Using the textile workshop facilities

The Charity provides the design and textile workshop facilities to support you in the development of your creative and professional practice.

  1.  Open Access – with technician support and screens included
Ideal for basic support on short projects, experimenting, sampling, and building confidence. For printers with recent basic print knowledge.
Annual registration fee £25
Hire charge, per 3 hour session*:  
Shared table space (and full workshop facilities) £20
3 metre table space (and full workshop facilities) £35
6 metre table space (and full workshop facilities) £70
Screen preparation only £40
Own screens preparation only £20
Heat press or baker or steamer only £45

 

2.     Professional Access – no technical support, open hours only
Typically for experience printers for seasonal sampling or personal research  
Annual registration fee £50
Hire charge, per 7 hour session**:  
3 metre table (and full workshop facilities, unlimited screens) £50
6 metre table (and full workshop facilities, unlimited screens) £90
LPT screens only (unlimited screens and 1 month image save) £40 – 3 hr session
Own screens prep or heat press or baker or steamer only £30 – 3 hr session
3.     Resident Access – includes out of hours access, unlimited screens and image save
Typically for our residency† programme or very regular/long project professional printers
Six months registration fee £400 or 2 x £250
Hire charge, per 7 hour session**:  
3 metre table (and full workshop facilities, unlimited screens) £40
6 metre table (and full workshop facilities, unlimited screens) £80
Screens prep or heat press or baker or steamer only £25 – 3 hr session
Out of hours access £25 – 3 hr session

 

* 3 hour session is either 10am – 1pm or 2pm – 5pm

** 7 hour session is 10am – 5pm

Your booking is confirmed on receipt of your payment. We accept card payments and bank transfers. We reserve the right to charge 100% for all cancellations/change to bookings.

All users (including assistants and interns) must undergo an annual induction to the workshop facilities to include Health & Safety and printing competency checks where necessary.

All users are responsible for their own safety and belongings at all times.
Users may be held responsible for any damage or loss (wilful or accidental) to the property of The London Printworks Trust.

 The London Printworks Trust reserves the right to withdraw access or to review hire charges, terms and conditions at any time without notice. Prices from 1 May 2012.

Facilities include:

Design room: Mac G5 and two i Mac, Adobe CS4 Design Suite, large format printer (up to A0 paper size on to trace), A2 colour printer, photocopier, lightbox, 2 x A4 scanners.

Workshop: steamer (holds up to 10 metres), large format heat press, rotary baker, 2 x six metre tables with repeat bars and hardware, 3 x three metre sample table, fume cupboard, exposure unit (takes up to 120 x 80cm screens), a large variety of screens (from A2 to 120 x 80cm in size) and a fully equipped wash-out area.
