Something for the Royal Wedding… reveal!

Being Brixton-based really does make our lives very colourful at London Printworks. It throws unusual opportunities our way, such as the recent Royal Wedding themed print design and production job commissioned by Artistic Director of the Black British Classical Foundation, Vincent.

Today is the big reveal!

Not sure if any of you lovely subscribers/ members/ LPT followers managed to view the Come Dine With Me Royal Wedding special, as you may have spotted a bit of London Printworks’ design and printmaking handiwork.

Using traditional African print fabrics including the pink fabric depicting the King’s throne and parasols, the staff team designed the motif and printed over 24 metres.

Filmed by Channel 4 in Brixton’s Trinity Square, round the corner from London Printworks, it looked wonderful. As for the opinions on the day, we best leave that to the programme’s narrator.

About London Printworks Trust

London Printworks Trust is the centre of excellence for textile print. Our passion has continued for twenty years since establishing ourselves as a charity to encourage professional artists, designers and emerging talent to learn, to share ideas, to produce new work and to fulfil their creative potential. Through our specialist hand printing equipment and workshop facilities we support and nurture creativity in people from the local community of Brixton, and across London. We are developing a new programme of residency places, courses, talks and new open access in response to the changes to funding. We appreciate and thank the support from our Board, Volunteers and Freelancers, without whom we would not have survived the changes to our funding. Continued support from The Leverhulme Trust and Lambeth also helps us to make a difference.
