Cuban Gold: Viva la Reproducción

A new exhibition has just opened at londonprintstudio (the paper print version of London Printworks Trust and long standing comrades). Centred around the vibrant culture of printmaking in Cuba, this exhibition features some of the most important younger artists working in Cuba today. Cuban Gold is jointly curated by londonprintstudio and Cuban artists Sandra Ramos and David Palacios.

Director John Phillips said ‘ Anyone who visits Cuba will find that there is an exciting art scene buzzing with ideas. While images from an older generation of Cuban artists are very well known, this show has a focus on the best contemporary artists working in Cuba today. There’s a wide variety of work in show, and it’s important that it has been curated by a leading artist and curator working within Cuba.’

We highly recommend popping in to see this exciting and diverse show.

Exhibition runs from 21 january – 4 June 2011

Open Tuesday to Saturday 10.30am – 6.00pm

About London Printworks Trust

London Printworks Trust is the centre of excellence for textile print. Our passion has continued for twenty years since establishing ourselves as a charity to encourage professional artists, designers and emerging talent to learn, to share ideas, to produce new work and to fulfil their creative potential. Through our specialist hand printing equipment and workshop facilities we support and nurture creativity in people from the local community of Brixton, and across London. We are developing a new programme of residency places, courses, talks and new open access in response to the changes to funding. We appreciate and thank the support from our Board, Volunteers and Freelancers, without whom we would not have survived the changes to our funding. Continued support from The Leverhulme Trust and Lambeth also helps us to make a difference.
