Shiny and New

Well, the LPT staff team managed to make it through the 2 week renovation, and boy, the difference it makes! We now have a exposure unit that takes even our largest screens, bespoke screen cupboard, the A0 heat press added to our available equipment and the cupboard/ dark room walls are no more.

One of the biggest changes is the high end extraction for the wash room, baker, steamer, the extendable extraction arm for print tables 3 & 4 as well as a fresh air circulator. This means we can safely allow caustic and devore print processes from print to finishing.

We had a look through our archives to find photographs of the workshop over the past 20 years. We could only find a few, but we thought it made a interesting comparison! (it’s all about the bottom photograph of the newly renovated space)

Contact us if you are interested in seeing the space. We had East London Printmakers round last week!

About London Printworks Trust

London Printworks Trust is the centre of excellence for textile print. Our passion has continued for twenty years since establishing ourselves as a charity to encourage professional artists, designers and emerging talent to learn, to share ideas, to produce new work and to fulfil their creative potential. Through our specialist hand printing equipment and workshop facilities we support and nurture creativity in people from the local community of Brixton, and across London. We are developing a new programme of residency places, courses, talks and new open access in response to the changes to funding. We appreciate and thank the support from our Board, Volunteers and Freelancers, without whom we would not have survived the changes to our funding. Continued support from The Leverhulme Trust and Lambeth also helps us to make a difference.
