On Thursday February 7, London Printworks Trust finally shut the doors to its Brixton home for the past 21 years. Times change, funding cuts and external forces have proven a difficult environment over the last year and it has not been possible to find suitable alternative premises within the available time and resources. Therefore it is with great regret that it will no longer be possible to offer access to the textile hand print facilities, expertise and services in the foreseeable future.

Over the years staff, trustees and volunteers have had the distinct privilege to work with some of the UK’s foremost artists, textile designers and emerging talent. Thereby creating a celebrated history of enabling raw, emerging and professional talent to develop their skills and create work that has promoted the visual arts on a local, national and global scale.

I would like to join with the Board of Trustees to thank everyone; artists, designers, students, individuals, funding bodies, the local authority, who have supported or in some way contributed to the work of London Printworks Trust over the last 21 years. I hope everyone will cherish the fondest of memories of the wealth of extraordinary projects and inspirational people that the have met and worked together in Brixton.

We had a great opening evening of our latest exhibition Resting Place on Tues. The exhibition continues next week Mon – Fri 10am – 4pm but will not be open Sun 18 Nov as previously advertised. Whoosh – Laura and Jack (our new lovely print interns) set the pace for Brixton Bolt. Helped by Florence together they printed 80 t-shirts in two days and set the pace for BRIXTON BOLT this weekend.
